Comparison of information exchange formats XBRL, ISO

Topic abstract

Starting from January 2020 all issuers listed on the regulated markets in Europe will be submitting their annual financial reports in iXBRL format. ISO 20022 was chosen by ESMA as the technical format for implementing Level 2 regulations for various European Commission directives. SDMX-based data collection for AnaCredit is scheduled to start in September 2018.

This 1.5h session will focus on a thorough analysis of the XBRL, ISO 20022 and SDMX standards which are gaining increasing attention in various areas of information exchange in Europe. The similarities and differences will be compared from both the technical perspective (including underlying technical specifications, metadata definition, presentation of data, available validation mechanisms, etc.) and the governance process perspective (governing bodies, standards development, acknowledgement of the specifications, etc.).
