ISA programme of the European Commission

Data standards for interconnected Public Administrations.
“Use data standards or develop our data model from scratch?” This is a common decision information architects have to take. Data standards are key building blocks for information systems development. Practice is showing, however, that public administrations are often reluctant to adopt data standards that have not been developed by or for them in the first place.

ESMA consults on the European Single Electronic Format

ESMA LogoThe European Securities and Markets Authority today launches its public consultation on its regulatory technical standards on the European Single Electronic Format (ESEF).

The consultation closes on 18 January  2016.

The amended Transparency Directive requires issuers listed on regulated markets to prepare their annual financial reports (AFR) in an ESEF from 1 January 2020, with the objectives of making submission easier for issuers and facilitating accessibility, analysis and comparability for investors and regulators. This consultation paper includes an assessment of current electronic reporting and explores ways forward with regard to the establishment of an ESEF.

In particular, ESMA seeks views on its preliminary cost-benefit analysis (CBA) and the proposals that the AFR should be published in PDF format with, in addition, IFRS consolidated financial statements reported as structured electronic data in XBRL or iXBRL.

Tool for Undertakings Workshop: “Meet-the-Market” (8 July 2015, Frankfurt)

Invitation to the first “Meet-the-Market Workshop” on the Tool for Undertakings (T4U), which will be held on 8 July 2015 (10:00 – 16:45 h CEST) at EIOPA in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. A detailed programme is attached, also available at https://eiopa.europa.eu/Pages/Supervision/Insurance/Tool-for-Undertakings.aspx.

The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) has decided that, despite severe budget restrictions, the Tool for Undertakings (T4U) related to XBRL reporting under Solvency II will continue to be developed for a scheduled release in Q3 2015.
This release will be preceded by the publication of the full XBRL Taxonomy, which is also scheduled for Q3 2015.
The preliminary version of the T4U, which is based on the Preparatory Guidelines for Solvency II, has been tested by industry since December 2014 and its functionalities are currently being refined (see http://t4u.eurofiling.info).
